The trash in our oceans is a serious problem that threatens the marine environment and dependent livelihoods. Plastics never disappear they only become smaller!. The microplastics enter the food change through the animals in the seas and oceans and arrive at our table. We really want to make a difference by encouraging people to join our event on the 5 of June. We will start walking the beautiful beach of Ballyheigue and picking up trash, starting around 12 pm. We recommend everyone to bring their own personal protection equipment (face mask, gloves, and comfortable shoes). We will follow the COVID protocol recommended by the Irish government keeping a distance of 2 meters between participants. Around 6 pm we are planning to have a small plastic-free picnic on the beach and if weather conditions allow we would like to go for a swim in the ocean. So bring your swimming suit!. It is a great opportunity to bring your kids and enjoy a day with your family and friends. As you raise awareness of the importance of keeping coastal and marine ecosystems healthy. People with animals are also welcome.
