European Green Crab monitoring

Esquimalt Lagoon Stewardship Initiative (ELSI) volunteers will be monitoring the lagoon for invasive European Green Crabs, with support from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. Volunteers will place 12 traps and retrieve them 24 hours later to check for invasive crabs and record overall crab diversity. This is part of a monthly monitoring effort that takes place over the course of the summer, which is now in its third year. Please note that this is a closed event due to COVID restrictions and training requirements.
